Goals for the future

I love doing family history work. It brings such peace and comfort to my life. Family history is so essential and important in our lives to help us grow and help our loved ones receive the ordinances that need to be completed. At times when I haven’t set a time to sit down and complete it I’ve felt empty and disappointed in my self. I know that I can do better and so can my family. It is essential for the Plan of Heavenly Father.

Define in writing a character trait that you desire to work on in order to realize more success in your future family history efforts.
I hope that I can be more diligent and less distracted. Sometimes when I’m doing family History work I get distracted easily and I wish that I can just focus on it and get as many things as accomplished as I can.

Write specific goals you feel to set for yourself concerning your future work in family history and temple service. Consider breaking the goals into short, medium, and long-term.
Do about 40 batches of indexing a week. Attend the temple once a month. Find at least six new family names to do ordinances for by the end of the year.

Identify challenges that may derail your goals.
Some challenges that I may encounter are not having my computer with me because I’m on vacation, not having all the resources that I need to find names and not able to find a babysitter on time.

Make plans that will enable you to realize your goals. Don’t just identify what you want to do, also state how you will do it.
Set a time daily of 10-15 minutes to work on indexing. Either have my husband watch my daughter or do it when she is sleeping. Set a day and time of the month in which both my husband and I will go to the temple. Find a babysitter a couple of weeks before. Prepare each day to be a worthy temple recommend holder by obeying the commandments and keeping my covenants. Set out a day for about three hours in the month and work especially on my personal family history. I need to make sure that there are no distractions and that I have the needed resources that I will need to accomplish my goal.
